FONVILLE FARM

Tales of a Georgia Peach!

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

This is what I did tonight after dinner. This is the first block of our Farm Girl quilt. I decided to do my quilt in pinks. I wanted reds but could not find the right ones. So pink it is. I think this quilt is going to end up being my lap quilt. I'm always cold and love to wrap up when I'm watching tv.

I got really into sewing tonight and made block number 2 as well. This is a churn dash block. It was very easy to make.
I also got a phone call from a friend tonight, telling me that she had referred me for a job. Being DON of a nursing home. Making a whoooooole lot of money. It's also a whoooooole lot of responsibility, I'm not sure that I'm cut out for it. It's a great opportunity. I've just never imagined myself in a management position. We'll see what happens.

I did not post that Eric wrecked his car two weeks ago. He rear ended someone who slammed in on their brakes as they hit a deer. So we are down to one car and the little garden truck. No one can even look at the car until the first week of February.
I really don't like my job, even to the point that I considered traveling back to Fredericksburg again. But I don't want to leave my family and my home. So I have to find other ways to make money so that I can be done with the hospital. I am working on getting my Stampin'Up business going. And while I work on that I am going to be selling off alot of the clutter and things that I don't use or wear anymore, on ebay.
I know that it sounds like I'm complaining about my job alot, I'm just venting. I don't like to keep things that bother me inside. I thank God everyday for the privelage of having a job, especially when so many people have lost theres. I just want to be able to find the right one for me and my family.

So a little bit about the pictures of the cards, bags, and stars from yesterdays post. They were all created using Stampin' Up products. The bags were made from one sheet of paper that was scored and folded, no cutting. The paper was plain and hand stamped. The stars were cut out and scored on each side and then folded. They are going to be so much fun for Christmas ornaments next year. They were all so easy to make. I'm making more today. I can't wait!

Here are some pictures of the cards and gift bag that I made last Saturday at Bonnie's.

The cream bag and the stars I made at home by myself. I had so much fun making these and they are so pretty.

Tomorrow is our Farm Girl Meeting. It's going to be so much fun. I can't wait.

We got about 4-5" of snow. I don't have any pictures because I was stuck in Roanoke without my camera. I rode to work with Eric on Thursday and we ended up in the ditch on the side of a mountain for about 2 hours or longer. We were not hurt and neither was the car. We just decided that we would get a hotel and stay the night since we both had to work the next day as well. When we got off work we had dinner and went to see The Bucket List. That movie was great, it was so funny.
I am going to start work on a making a pair of jeans for myself. I hope they turn out well, I've been so excited about them. I'm also going to a stamp camp at Bonnie's house so that I can learn some new techniques to use for my own camps. I'll take pictures and post later.

Well its been a few days. I worked my first day on the unit. It was not so bad. I'm not sure if I'm going to want to stay there very long. I am still trying to find something different. I've also been sick with a stomach bug and very tired this week. I've had no energy at all.
It's supposed to snow tonight and turn into a wintry mix tomorrow. I have to work tomorrow, and I hate driving in bad weather. I was supposed to work 12 hours, but God was looking out for me and my boss called and said that I have to go to a class tomorrow. So now I can ride with my husband, since he works just a few blocks a way from the hospital I am able to ride with him when I work 8 hour days. Even though I still have to be out on the road in the bad weather at least I'm not by myself and driving. Besides it gives us a little more time together.
I found a new blog, laurasewingroom.blogspot.com, it is a sewing blog. She makes all of her clothes, even her lingerie. She even made jeans. She really makes me want to make some clothes.
I did make a wall hanging and some potholders this week. And I finished an embroidery. I'll get some pictures up later.

Today was sort of a lazy day. Did not do much at all except take Morgan for her guitar lesson and cook dinner. Morgan made me very happy, she wants to make pillows and learn to make other things to sell on Etsy. She wants to make some money. So tomorrow we are having some sewing lessons. YAY!!! When I went for my Bernina lesson on Thursday there was a girl about her age there taking a lesson on making pin cushions. She was learning to sew by hand and machine. I think that would be something that Morgan would enjoy making as well. I'm just so excited, something for us to do together.

Well I got my cutting board last night. My BIL Travis made it for me. I love it, he did a really good job on it.

While I was getting this picture off of my camera, I came across some more that I took at Christmas.

Today I got my new family rings that Eric gave me for Christmas. They are beautiful and I tried to take a picture of them but it didn't turn out very good. They are white gold and are set with our birthstones. Eric's is September (sapphire), mine is April (diamond), and Morgan's is December ( blue topaz). He had them made seperate so that it would be easier to add to them. I really do love my husband.

Oh what a long day of sitting for 8 hours in orientation. So boring. And I get to it again tomorrow. But I do get to ride into work and back home with my wonderful husband (an hour each way). It's nice that he works just about 10 minutes away from the hospital, even though we won't get to see each other during the day or be able to ride together all the time. I wish we could. But I work or rather sit tomorrow and again on Wednesday then I'm off until Sunday.
Morgan called me on my way home today to give me some exciting and kindof sad news, I will not post details because she would kill me if she saw this, but any of you mothers out there would understand. My little girl is growing up. I'm always thinking about things she used to do or say when she was little. I miss those days.
Things she used to say:
When she would lay in my lap and look up at my face she would say, "I can see me in your eyes." She could see here reflection in my eyes and she thought that was so much fun.
She always wanted to rub noses together, "Let's do nosies."
She once told my mom, "Granny, I need some Nylenol (Tylenol)." "Why do you need medicine, you're not sick?" "Because I've been having alot of bless you's lately."
Her biggest saying was "How did they used to do it back in the 80's?"
Her grandmother was going to a baby shower one Sunday after church, someone asked something about where she was going. Morgan replied"She's going to a baby washing."

Little one's are so cute. A friend of mine that I used to work with just had the most precious little baby girl on December 28th, Maya Lee. I can't wait to see her.

Eric rode his bike this afternoon, outside in the beautiful sunlight for a couple of hours. I stayed in and hit the eliptical again. Then we had a great steak that Eric grilled up for us. Now I'm off to do a little pampering on me. Time for new nail polish and a facial while soaking in the hot tub.
I've had such a good time today. Leslie came over for the day and we had lunch and a sewing lesson. She made a pot holder and took the supplies home to make another one. She is doing really good.
I made some home made blueberry muffins for breakfast this morning. They were soooo good. Now I just need to decide what to do for dinner.
I'm trying to find something to bring in an income from home without having to go to work in the hospital. I am already a Stampin Up demonstrator. I am getting ready to take on Pampered Chef. I have a very big house that is in a convenient location that I could have the parties in my house for the people who want to have parties and don't have the room or just would not like to have it their own house. Oh well, I just want to find something that I can make some extra money at and these are two things that alot of women like. I'm just praying that this is what is right for me and my family.

Well it's still very cold here, but supposed to be in the 50's by next week. Cold weather drains all of my energy. It's been pretty, the sun is shining. But I have absolutely no energy. I did as little as possible today and I hate that. I made chili for dinner tonight. We love hot and spicey food. We grow several different kinds of hot peppers in the summer and we dry them or freeze them to use all winter long.
Morgan missed school today, she had a sore throat and signs of a cold. I think that most of it is coming from the fact that her dad does not have a humidifier and he uses wood heat. I hope that she is not sick. She is getting ready to start playing volleyball.
While Eric road his bike on the trainers tonight, I hopped on the eliptical for 25 minutes. That was the first time on there in months. It felt great afterwards.
I decided that it was not a good idea to cut out the caffeine cold turkey, after I got the major headache. So I've had a chai latte to make up for that. The chai has 1/2 the caffeine that my coffee does. I will do this for a couple days and then work my way down. Oh well, I'm getting my calcium.
I have a date for dinner tomorrow night with my wonderful husband:) I can't wait!

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Oh my it is sooooo cold here today. It is 10 degrees, but a wind chill of 1. I don't do well with the cold. I like it warm, all nice and toasty. I do like to see snow when I don't have to go out in it. We did have some flurries and expect some more later tonight. It makes me want to make a big pot of soup or chili and curl up with a blanket.
I have my work physical later today. I would really like to skip it because of the cold weather but if I do I can't start work on Monday. And I really want a paycheck. So I get to test out the new down coat that Eric gave me for Christmas.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
We had a very low key boring night. We did stay up and have a bottle of champagne. Eric's parents came and stayed last night on their way back home. They got up and left this morning. I had my last glass of champagne, wine and last cup of real coffee last night. I am now on a healthy kick to get my body ready and in shape for baby time.
I also got out my new food processor this morning and chopped up onions to freeze and have ready for soups and other dishes. It's so nice to have them already there waiting in the freezer and prepared for me.
I am trying to decide what and how much I want to plant in my garden this year. I need to start ordering seeds. I have been looking at cookbooks and canning books to get some ideas of what to make that I can can for gifts and of course my own use. I am getting so excited!! I love seed catalogs. I never can quite decide on everything, or at least I want everything and never can scale down to what I really should buy and need.
I hope you all had a great New Year's Eve and continue to have a great New Year in 2008!
